This set of six hand-embroidered Otomí placemats was created in Tenango de Doria, Hidalgo, where embroidery remains part of everyday cultural practice. Each floral composition is stitched slowly by hand, transforming the table into a layered and intentional space.
Designed for homes that approach dining as atmosphere — not just function.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
Each placemat is entirely handmade using traditional Otomí embroidery techniques passed through generations.
Created in collaboration with artisans from Hidalgo and curated by Casa Lanna Ha as a contemporary textile for intentional interiors.
Each textile is later altered with a fabric backing for placemat functionallity, transforming the piece from a traditional object into a contemporary presence within the home.
The construction includes:
– Front: Hand-embroidered cotton surface
– Interior: Felt core for structure and heat protection
– Back: Fine linen finish for a refined textile weight and feel
No industrial embroidery.
No repeated machine patterns.
Only hand-guided stitching and material presence.
Because every piece is embroidered individually, slight variations in size and tension are part of the character of the set.

Avoid dryers and high heat, as they may affect the embroidery threads and textile structure.
For darker thread colors, color-catching sheets are recommended during washing.
